You may well have had the intentions of getting in shape for some time, but if you need something to kick-start your new healthy routine, then the start of summer can be a good excuse.
After all, you may be able to hide under sweaters and thick coats during the winter weather, but come summer you will want to show off your fit physique. Here are a few top tips for how you can go about getting in shape for summer.
One of the best ways to make sure that you’re in shape for summer is to start early. It’s no good hitting the gym once the sunshine has already arrived – plus you’ll miss all the summer fun! If you want to make sure you’re already in great shape by the time the warm weather hits, then you’ll want to start early.
While it can be tempting to spend the wet and cold weather indoors watching TV and playing PartyPoker online, it is well worth making time for the occasional trip to the gym too. Having a long-term fitness plan that you begin in advance of summer can be far more beneficial than simply crash-dieting or stepping up your training just a few weeks beforehand. Results which take a little longer to achieve are usually those which prove to be long-lasting.
Make a plan
Set out a plan with achievable goals along the way. This will keep you motivated to stick to your new regimen, even while the weather doesn’t offer the opportunity to show off the results. Don’t buy new clothes with the hope of being able to fit into them by summer, as this is rarely a good idea.
Instead, reward yourself when you achieve your goals as you go along. Make sure that your fitness plan is completely tailored to your individual needs – so that whether you’re looking to gain muscle or lose weight, you will be on the right track from the very beginning.
