There are many different accessories out there, but one of the newest and coolest we’ve tested so far is the Titanium Necklace by Phiten (shown on the left as worn by pitcher Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers). We tested one of these “Tornado” necklaces, and here are a few of our observations:

It fits in to your daily life

The Tornado necklace we tested is a great complement to the other Phiten products we’ve used in the past. The company makes all sorts of other items from compression sleeves to performance socks, all of which help out while playing an intense sport.

Even though the necklace itself doesn’t provide any sizable advantage out on the field, it definitely made us feel stylish and unique.

It’s trendy

Let’s admit it, we all like to have the latest and greatest; after all, that’s the main reason why Apple-ware is so popular. Accessories go in and out of style quickly, but these titanium necklaces seem to have what it takes to stick.

Titanium necklaces are popping up everywhere, including on the sports field and in daily life. The particular necklace we tried is a MLB special edition that is worn by players throughout the league including Justin Verlander as pictured and Josh Beckett of the LA Dodgers.

It looks good

After all, the main reason we accessorize is to simply look good. In our tests it was amazing how often people stopped and asked us what we had on. It was also neat how we could wear the necklace with pretty much anything. It’s definitely a very versatile accessory.

1. The Gym

The gym can definitely be one of the best places to meet women. Here you are likely to find at least a few fit and beautiful women who are active and determined. On top of that, since introductions can be hard, the gym offers you many conversation topics that will keep things alive.

2. Work-Day Lunches

As most people are well aware of, the best way to do things like get a job or appear on television is to get a referral from someone who the decision makers trust. While dating coworkers may get a little too dicey, dating their friends and associates may do just fine.

Invite some of your coworkers out for a laid-back lunch and tell them to invite some of their friends. Do this with your female colleagues especially, and you’re bound to meet some new women. If you play your cards right, your female coworkers will be singing your praises to your new lady friend essentially referring you to her. This one mainly applies when you’ve just landed back at your hometown. The airport is the one place that people from all over your destination gather in one place. This will give you the opportunity to meet people you otherwise probably wouldn’t have met, and also give you topics of conversation. You can both discuss your recent trip and then hopefully meet up later on after a good night’s sleep and a shower.

4. Networking Events

Networking events are a great way to meet all sorts of people, including women. You’re generally in a place with low-lighting and soft music to reduce the awkwardness, and you have a valid excuse to just walk up and talk to anyone. The best approach here is professional at first and not creepy. Networking events are also generally home to the con man and the sleezy creeper alike, so a delicate touch to your introduction is important.

5. Local Restaurant Happy Hour

The best place to meet a woman is generally where her guard is down and she is open to meeting new people. A restaurant usually offers a safe area where women can feel comfortable having a cheap drink before commuting home for the night.

Generally-speaking, employees who have spent the day working from a desk are excited about blowing off some steam and striking up a few conversations after work. The femme fatale of Hollywood may blow things up with her mind and shoot around corners, but in the real world she’s a bit more mysterious. Today’s FF is more the type that will lure you in with her good looks and subtle sexiness only to leave you high and dry soon afterwards.

As a good analogy, the femme fatale of today is much like the manly player out there who is ready to take numbers and break hearts. There are a few reasons why we men are always attracted to this kind of woman, and why we can’t often escape her.

Intrigue

Firstly, us men are intrigued by things we can’t fully understand and conquer. This is why we are often driven to careers that don’t make us happy, cars that are too fast to be healthy, and risk taking that may someday bankrupt or kill us.

The femme fatale is like these things. We can never tame her so we feel the need to keep trying.

Lust

Yes, us men tend to lust a lot, but that’s not what we’re talking about here. While we have sexual cravings, we also lust after things that we can’t have or control.

The femme fatale therefore presents the perfect recipe for disaster for us men as we try in vain to get her attention.

Attention

Yes, women are not the only one’s who crave attention. Men are not exempt from the desire to have everyone envy them, and this is one reason why we are often attracted to the femme fatale.

Steroids are constantly popping up in the news and are often subjects of heated debate. In reality, “steroids” come in many types and perform a variety of functions; however, the anabolic steroid is the most widely-known.

Anabolic steroids are synthetic hormones that mimic testosterone in the body and can lead to increased muscle bulk and reduced muscle breakdown. Most people take these drugs in hopes that they will be able to physically perform better. As you may have heard, anabolic steroids come with many risks that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Below we’ve broken down some of the major issues with steroid use so that you can make an informed decision.

Increased Muscle Mass

There is no denying that steroids increase muscle bulk and do so effectively. In fact, if you want to gain muscle mass in a extremely short time frame, steroids may be your only option.

However, the rate at which steroids increase growth is dangerous. Even a healthy heart has to increase its workload to adapt to normal muscle growth; but with muscle growing at a very fast rate, the heart is overworked over a short period of time. This can lead to heart complications and can significantly damage a person’s circulatory system.

Stunted growth

When teenagers and young adults use steroids, the growth plates in between their bones get fused too quickly. While the person may still be gaining muscle, their size potential will be greatly reduced and they will likely be much shorter than they could have been.

This can give the appearance of being short and bulky – not exactly the look we were going for.

Shrinking family jewels

Yep, that’s right, steroids can cause tiny ball syndrome. The reason for this is simple – your testicles produce testosterone, and as they are not needed as much with increased androgens in your blood stream, they shrink.

If that doesn’t turn you off from steroid use I don’t know what would.

Increased aggression

Ever heard the term “roid rage?” Everyone gets a little angry from time to time, but steroids have been known to kick that up a notch further. As testosterone levels increase in a person’s blood, aggression tends to follow.

This could potentially have a negative effect on your life if you say, want to date or spend time with friends regularly. Additionally, the aggression caused by increased testosterone is often irrational, leading to attacks of anger and rage for no apparent reason.

Growing a pair of your own

One of the worst effects of steroid abuse is the potential growth of mammary tissue in men. Some steroids when ingested “aromatize,” or change into a different compound, most of the time it’s estrogen that is produced. This can cause men to develop female-like breasts.

Still sound like a good idea? Steroids are dangerous and are illegal for more than just unfair play reasons. The drugs kill people and maim others, and you have to be prepared to accept the consequences if you choose to take them. My advice is leave them on the shelves and work hard to be the best you can be personally. That’s all that should really matter to you anyway.

Prepare for the date mentally

Getting in the right frame of mind is essential to approaching a blind date. One of the largest reasons why many blind dates don’t work out even as friends is that there are exaggerated expectations at the start.

Make sure to tell yourself beforehand that you’re simply going out for a fun night with a woman friend. This way you won’t expect anything other than some good company and a nicer-than-usual evening. Of course, getting to know each other will happen during the evening, so try to make the call short to avoid burning out any potential conversation topics that you can use later.

Make a general plan

Having a general plan will help you immensely during the date. Knowing what’s next will help the evening flow better, and will also give you an idea of when it will be over if things are going poorly.

The key word here is “general” plan. When you’re meeting someone for the first time, you may realize quickly that the things you had planned don’t gel with her personality, what she’s wearing, etc. Being able to back out or change plans is essential to a good time for you both.

Planning is all about anticipating. While thinking about what you will need, make sure that you know who exactly will be attending and what they are expecting from you as the host. This way you can decide if you’ll be breaking out the French wine and cheese or simply ordering a pizza. Thinking about each element of the party before it happens will help you prepare for each issue as it comes up.

Decide on food

Everyone has different tastes, but that doesn’t mean that you have to cater to every desire of your guests. Deciding on the food to serve is all about presentation – the type of food should be in line with what type of party you want to have. Are you looking for a guys-only burgers and beerfest? Or will you be throwing an elegant dinner and cocktails party? Answers to these questions will help you decide if it’s pizza and hotdogs on the menu or something else.

Cater if you can’t or don’t want to cook

These days it’s no longer necessary to cook for your guests when they come over to your place. On top of that, guests may even feel more comfortable eating something that has been prepared by a known restaurant than something you put together.

In the world of entrepreneurship it’s always important to learn from those who have “been there, done that.” No one is born knowing what to do to create a successful company, so it’s always a good idea to hear from those who have successfully created a product from the ground up.

We had the opportunity to interview Idan Koren, President and Co-Founder of up-and-coming photo sharing app Deja Mi to get his take on how to be successful in the world of technology entrepreneurship.

To give you a little background, Deja Mi is a social photo sharing app that combines the filter effects of Instagram with the location and real-time data of Foursquare. According to Mr. Koren, the app has currently received over 50,000 downloads and is used by over 20,000 people. The app has also been featured in Apple’s New and Noteworthy section and was ranked third.

Below is our conversation with Idan.

What makes your product unique in today’s market?

“Most of the photo sharing services available today are for entertainment purposes, with not much focus on utility. Deja Mi allows members to see what is happening at virtually any venue in real-time. By using our feature “Around Mi,” users can easily explore their areas from their house, which may even lead to people check out places that they wouldn’t have expected.”

Tell us briefly how you went from having an idea to implementing it over a large scale.

“Our CEO Justin Miller originally had the idea while attending a Blink 182 concert. He was in the back row and couldn’t see much of anything. It was there that he had the idea that if people in the front row could post pictures and videos about what’s going on in real-time, it would help people like him who had trouble viewing the concert.

Since then we’ve been looking at photo sharing as a potential tool to make people’s lives easier. What we aim to accomplish in our next few releases is to essentially give people a sort of ’30 second taste’ of what a venue is like in a virtual environment.

The transition from our idea to having a tangible product was full of challenges. As we began to simply throw a layout together in Photoshop and code a few elements, I’d have to be honest and say that our product ‘mutated’ a few times from its original direction. The important thing for us however was to determine a launch goal, figure out a plan, and stick to it.”

What were some of the largest challenges while working with your team?

“As with any team project, getting everyone on board with your idea is always a challenge. When we were first conceptualizing Deja Mi, everyone on the team had a different vision for the product and that had to be managed.

Additionally, when it came to launch time, it took some time for all of us to come to the consensus that the app was ready to go out to the world. It’s tough when you work so hard on something – you can sometimes be such a perfectionist that you don’t ever feel like your product is ready.”

This recipe blends the delicious flavors of tender chicken, basil pesto, and the seasoning of your choice. It is one of those meals that is incredibly simple to prepare, but when served, it looks and tastes like you dedicated quite a bit of time to making something special for her.

Ingredients:

• Thinly sliced chicken breast
• Olive oil
• Seasoning of your choice (I use Mrs. Dash salt free seasoning)
• Pesto
• *Can be served with grilled mushrooms and mushroom risotto (Trader Joe’s)

Recipe:

• Marinate chicken with olive oil
• Add seasoning of your choice all over the marinated chicken
• Grill chicken at low heat. I know that as a result it will take longer to cook, but I assure you the taste is much better if grilled at low heat for a longer amount of time.
• Heat pesto, and once cooked, top the chicken with it
